"He insulted you, Captain." "So that's when you hit him?" "No! I knew you didn't want us to start a fight." "Why did you hit him then?" "Well, he said the Enterprise was garbage. THAT'S when I hit him."

It is cold and snowing outside. The heater is on inside. I have Enya playing on my ipod, a blue cape over my shoulders, and a book of codes at my feet. This would be a grand day to stay inside but I have to go to work in a few hours. Thankfully it is only for two hours, then I can come home and watch "Star Trek," with my mum while making something with my sweet potatoes which are turning fuzzy.

My writing was starting to pick up again as I felt wonderful last week. However, I forgot to remind myself that I've been sick for months and did too much work for being better just one week. So this week I am completely worn out. I wrote two chapters and have been taking it easy since. I've been working on some short stories for contests as well, and trying to get the perfect query letter. I keep forgetting how hard this book is to write a query letter for.

I've noticed with my short stories that they take on either a depressing note or sound like they came out of the Twilight Zone. I don't know why but for someone who has never been able to write a short story, I will take what I can get.

I am nearing the part in my book where I start to get, moody I guess you could say. I am on chapter ten of the last book of this series and though chapter ten isn't half way through it is near enough to remind me that it is ending. What will I write next? Adventure, Science Fiction, Fantasy, or another Steampunk? Maybe I should go so far as to try some of the Historical novel ideas I have. You can sit and ponder, through out some votes while you're at it. If I use your suggestion I will mention you on the dedication page.

Oh, before I go. I have an announcement! I was able to guest post on the blog, "Steamed." You can read my post here http://ageofsteam.wordpress.com/2012/01/27/why-i-write-steampunk-by-jack-lewis-baillot/ and make sure to look around the blog. They have some interesting things on there.

Now I am going to write.

 Allons-y!

  1. Hey! I just wanted to thank you for your comment, and for being a wonderful person :) You have been such an encouragement to me. I would LOVE to email back and forth (though I'll warn you that I'm not very good at keeping up with people). I'll likely be taking a long break from blogging anyway because I have a tonne of traveling coming up in the next couple months, but yes. Let's do that, let's talk.
Hmmm. There was something else I wanted to say.
OH YES. I found someone with a few episodes of Doctor Who, so I introduced myself to them (the episodes), and I'm seriously like in LOVE now. I am desperately searching for another place to find complete seasons (or series? I'm still confused about that), but wow. Best. Show. Ever.

Continuing on, I read your guest post and it was awesome and it's awesome that you're writing again and good golly you are such an inspiration to me :)

I think next you should write an adventure/fantasy book like the Hobbit (just saw the trailer for the movie, incidentally, and holy cow it looks amazing) or the Binding of the Blade series. As always, in my opinion you can do no wrong, so whatever captures your fancy will no doubt turn out fabulous.

    Thanks again very much :D
