"Looks like your true love loves someone else."

So, this is kind of a day late - kind of. Because I said it might be up Sunday, but I was out of town on Saturday and didn't get back until 11:30 so didn't wish to stay up later to put a post up. So I went to bed. *Nods*

Now, bear in mind I am still working on this. I don't know if I like this summery or not - so if any of you have suggestions I am open. But until then, here is The Broken Blade summery! (And I will introduce one of the characters Friday.)

I'd say more, but I have to go. I got behind on comments and I have to get ready for work tomorrow. So, I hope you enjoy it!!

Ryder-Adair cannot read or write his own name. He doesn't fit in in his village and is avoided by everyone but the fellow outcast boys - one who has a violent temper and twin brothers who's own mother cannot tell them a part.

They live in a land which has been without a king for a hundred years. There is a legend, however, one the people cling to as their only hope. A legend of the king's broken blade - and the rumor that whoever finds it and re-forges it will be given the power to unite the land.

Ryder-Adair isn't sure he believes the legend but a time in coming when he won't have much choice. His home is being invaded and it is now up to him, his friends, and a mysterious young man with no memory of who he is to save everyone.

Again, if you have suggestions on how to make it better I'd love to hear them!

Quote is from Howl's Moving Castle, the movie.

  1. Is promising, dear Lewis. Sounds very promising indeed.

    *starts getting the excited-for-cool-sounding-book-mood on*

    God bless,

PS: I'd like to take the time to also say that it does mean a lot to me that you take the time to comment back to us. I get that it's a bit overwhelming and all. Thanks for taking the time to reply to the blabber and randomness that I spew here in your comment section. It means more than you might think. =)

  2. Very intriguing! It promises many many more amazing characters - the fellow who can't remember who he is, and the twins sounds really cool. =) I can't wait to hear more!
Also, I second Kismint's P.S. If you ever feel too overwhelmed, replying to everything, you can always ignore mine for a day or two until you're less overwhelmed.

After a weekend not thinking about The Prologue (oooo so ominous), I think I'm ready to look at it again with fresh eyes. Hopefully I can make it better and post it soon!

Your services would be much appreciated when I come to the decision on publishing. =)

Hee hee you can't help but love all the Hitchhiker's characters. Marvin (the robot) is my most favorite, though. But Arthur is great too. Actually, my most character character is probably that poor whale. xD "Hello ground!" *poof*

Oh my word! Oh my word! You watched M! Hooray! Now I can explode! That episode was SO shocking! He was so unlike Sherlock! And he stabbed him! And-and! GAH! I can't believe it! And Irene is dead! Somehow I doubt that though.... I didn't think Moran was Moriarty, though. He didn't look like a Moriarty. I was thinking, they totally cast him wrong. And then I found out he was Moran and I was like "I KNEW IT!"
And I'm glad Joan stayed too. I wonder what will happen with her, though? She'll have to get a job to sustain herself because E-Lock's dad isn't paying her anymore.. Then Sherlock will find out. I can't even fathom what is going to happen next.

The same thing happened to me when I read Uglies. I loved the first book, but then the next books just went downhill. I don't even think I finished Pretties.

I have heard of the Enola Holmes books but have never read them. I heard they are really good, though!

I hate it when genres get tainted. I think that with Steampunk, it's easier because it isn't as well known as some other genres yet. Like Steampunk, sci-fi is realitively sparse, but there are so many TV shows that are sci-fi, that the genre is kind of set.

By the way.... I never answered a question you posted awhile back. I love stories about castles and royalty and stuff so a story about a king would be cool.

    Have a good week!

  3. Sounds intriguing! Only one critique - the last bit of the first paragraph sounds awkward. Perhaps it would be better

    - including one with a violent temper and a pair of twins whose own mother can't tell them apart

    (with that spelling of whose)

    Other than that, it's splendid!

  4. LOVE IT. And now I recognise those character names -- I remember reading like five chapters that you sent me and adoring it. WOOHOO! Also, Ryder-Adair is pretty much the best name ever.

It makes me really happy that you have a pair of twins in your story. PLEASE do not kill one of them off, though I think you know better than to do that.

And I noticed from Abbey's comment that you're watching Elementary now. Isn't it good? I loved it right off, even more than Sherlock which I didn't think was possible. I have come to the conclusion that pretty much every adaptation of Sherlock Holmes is bound to be good. I just adore Lucy Liu's Watson and I like that Holmes is a little nicer in Elementary than in Sherlock.

Also, I watched Howl's Moving Castle, which a friend of mine had on video for a long time, and I loved it. It was kind of all over the place, but it was very enjoyable. I love anime (I watched Ouran High School Host Club for like a year even though it's basically trash), and this movie reminded me of another of my favourites, Millennium Actress. I don't know if you like anime at all, but if you do then Millennium Actress is a great one to watch. Hopefully you can find an English version. It's got great music and the animation is gorgeous.

Okay, this is getting long. Love ya! :P

    1. ~Watch Death Note! It`s really captivating! And it`s somewhat similar to Sherlock, in the detective sense. Keeps you on your toes the whole time!

~There`s also this recent anime, K Project. Although it`s not as good as Death note... Then again, its probably not fair for me to compare them cause their genres are nothing alike! xD

  5. ~OMG I like the twins already! I seem to have a soft spot for twins =B And I find your summary intriguing! The name Ryder-Adair! It`s so rhyme-y!

~Thanks on the story comment =) I`m beginning to try writing a story cause writing is such enormous fun!

~Yeah, summaries are evil! Book covers are pretty deceptive too! I guess I pick books based on other readers reviews or my friends suggestions =D

~You should keep em dragons on magical leashes! They`re sneaky creatures, the lot of them! Need to hunt for a magician for that, though... Oh, yes! I`d love to go camping in search of em dragons! I want a purple one with shiny purply scales! ^^

~AAHHHH!! Why is there so many Holmes-es out there!! I don`t know anymore... I. just. don`t... *sits in a corner, rocking back and forth like a mad woman*

  6. Sounds good! Maybe a little adjusting of the first line of the second paragraph to make it more dynamic.

  7. I love Ryder-Adair. I know it's a bit early on, haven't even read it yet, but I love him. :D That sounds like a really good book.

  8. Oooooh! Sounds awesome! I love these sorts of stories. :D

  9. It sounds amazing ! And doesn't need any suggestions. At least not from me, I'm intrigued already.
A mysterious young man who doesn't know who he it ? I mean come on, thats enough right there.
    Blessings Rachel Hope

  10. Sounds cool. Kenj is right, it does sound a bit cryptic but still interesting.

  11. Sounds good, Jack! I think you're going to have a nice mix of characters to bounce off each other (the twins sound really fun!) I love the memory-loss-character-thing happening.

  12. Consider me officially intrigued. That sounds a lot like the stuff I read when I first discovered fantasy!

  13. I think it sounds quite promising :-) I'm getting very excited.

    God Bless

  14. Very good. I look foward to various snippets and eventaul book. If I think of any suggestions, I'll let you know.

    ~Robyn Hoode

    1. Me, leave snippets? Hm....well, don't hold your breath. As they are likely to be few and far between. *Evil grin*

    2. Just wait until I'm published, Jack. You don't know the meaning of evil grin until you are stuck with my cliffhanging chapters *Evil grin*
