"No wait, hold on...that's the Lion King!"

Wherein Jack tries to stay awake long enough to post.

Today was one of those weird days where nothing goes as planned and the things you get accomplished feel like the wrong things.

It all started when I woke up at six thirty. Usually I wake at seven thirty so when I saw I had an hour left where I could sleep I almost rolled over and feel back asleep. But the sun was shinning in my window and it seemed like a waste to spend a perfectly good, sunny hour sleeping. So I forced myself awake, curled up under my blankets, and read. Then I had trouble putting the book down.

After I got dressed for work I went outside for a moment, realized what a pretty day it was, and took my book out to sit on the porch and read some more. The end result? I am now behind on comments but I only have one chapter left in my book.

However, because I always stay up late, and lost an hour of sleep, I wasn't fully awake at work today. I hoped I'd be more awake by nightfall, enough to edit, but I keep spacing out. So I think I shall have to pay for all this tomorrow and edit two chapters again.
BUT! We were able to get cover pictures today and I now have a backup cover if the other doesn't work out. So, I feel better. (More news about the cover later. I want to get the backup approved by my cover critics. Also, it might turn out that I won't need it so I don't want to make an official cover announcement yet.)

I should have a couple of book reviews tomorrow.

Right now I'm going to try and edit some before I fall asleep.

No answer on the quote today, I'm going to make you guess.

 Allons-y!

  1. I know where that quote is from!

I can't wait to see the cover!!! I'm excited.

Good luck with your editing. If it makes you feel any better, I didn't get too much editing done tonight either.

  2. I hate unproductive days like that ... but at least you got your book read!

(Oh! And I just finished entering in all of the edits for Stretch - I'll email to you tomorrow when I have the brainpower to explain my fancy color code)

  3. Hope you gain back that lost hour. Reading was still productive though.

  4. When you're reading, you're studying other authors' writing techniques. Therefore, you're working. (Do you like that? I use that excuse all the time. LOL)

You are a better person than me. When I have an hour extra to sleep, I take it. Nighttime is my time, and morning can just suck it. :)

  5. I have a love/hate relationship with those kind of days. IF I don't have anything hugely pressing to do, then I love them, but when I DO have stuff to do, and I feel totally unmotivated, then I feel guilty. Sigh.

You sound a bit like me, you can stay up 'til all hours and get up at your usual time and feel fine, but the minute you get up earlier than normal you're super tired. That's how it is for me, at least. I think I do my deepest sleep near the end of the night, and THAT's why getting up early doesn't sit well with me. :D

I know that quote!! That's the Doctor, right before he presses the big, scary red button. *WHAP!* er. Ahem.

    IRON MAN THREE WAS AAAWWWEESOMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEE.

    That is all. :D

  6. To me, your day was a day well spent. And I totally sympathize over losing sleep! I never seem to get enough.

  7. 10th Doctor!!!! :) (your quote, that is) :)

I am envious of your day. Having 2 kiddos the only thing I really "miss" from BC (before children) life is the ability to spend a few hours just READING if I wanted to. On the upside, though, books now take me MUCH longer to finish, so I get to enjoy them longer (I'm a natural speed-reader and absolutely cannot slow myself down)

  8. Definitely believe that that you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the
web the easiest thing to understand of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed whilst folks think about worries that they just
do not recognise about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top as
smartly as outlined out the entire thing without having side effect , people
could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
