"It seems to run on some form of electricity."

Wherein Jack doesn't feel like having a Chick Flick moment, but is happy nonetheless.

I was, I don't remember what I was doing. It was something though, when I noticed that I have been around here since 2011, of May. That means as of this month I have been sprouting rambling words of - well, not wisdom persay, but whatever it is we want to call it - for three years. That is no stellar record I know, nothing like Doctor Who, but pretty impressive considering the fact I didn't think I was going to last for a month when I first started.

I have mentioned it before, but I've been here three years, so I will bring it up again. I started this blog up when I decided that I was going to take my writing seriously and I was going to publish. (WAS. I kept telling myself the was. I was going to do it. Even if it killed me. Which, it did feel like it was going to kill me.)

As I thought, I almost gave up after my first month. Keeping a blog was hard. I had to keep coming up with things to right about and after the first week I'd run out of subjects. And I couldn't find anyone who was interested in the things I had to say. If no one read my blog they wouldn't read my book, and - well, on and on I whined about it.

Thankfully I had this special friend back then. She took the time to read all of my posts and comment, she told me I was doing great, she put up with me the times I acted like a baby. She is the only reason I lasted more than a month.

 Now look at me.

Three years and I am sitting at my desk buried under a pile of work, with three books published. Some days that will really hit me and I will have to sit back and stare at the wall for a while as it tries to sink in.

My scheme was insane what I started. Picking a pen name and hiding my real name as best I could. Not showing anyone who I am - not that you all would recognize me even if you could see me. Even my friend who was helping me with everything wasn't sure it would work. Who would care about an Author no one knew anything about? I still don't know if it was the best plan I've ever come up with. Maybe it would have been better to tell everyone who I am really am, but it has been a lot of fun and that has to count for something, right?

Of course, the past three years haven't been all fun and everything. They were really hard, not just trying to publish and make myself better known, but just became of things happening in my life. They've probably been the roughest years I ever faced. But I wouldn't trade them for anything better.

I've met some wonderful friends. I've met amazing Authors and got to read some great books I wouldn't have heard of otherwise.

And now...well, now it seems like you are going to be stuck with me for another three years. I'm kind of hard to get rid of once I show up.

I'd say more but I am having Skype issues and need to go and threaten it.

Before I go though. On the 31st I will be revealing my cover for A Test of Loyalty! (Exciting, right?)
And don't forget about the contest! Details on the side bar.

  1. Happy blog-o-versary!!!! :)

I don't think I'm going to be able to enter the contest after all :( I blame it on an extreme lack of skill in the area of video-making... but that's my brother's area of expertise... and I'm happy to let him keep it. :)

  2. Happy, Happy Blogversary, dear Jack!!!!!!

I'm so grateful we've become friends and I look forward to many more years of friendship and of reading your blog.

  3. *Throws cake* Congratulations! I've been reading your blog for about two of those years I think and i've loved every minute of it {even though i rarely comment- bad Mycroft}

  4. Happy Blogversary! And it's always great to have that one friend who sticks by you from the start and keeps you blogging. :)

  5. Happy Blogversary, Jack!!! :D :D :D Your blog is one of my absolute favorites. You are SO funny and just all around fun. You're great, girl! So keep blogging and writing books. The world needs more Jack.

You're so brave to do what you did, publishing like that and building everything you have. I'm in constant awe of how hard you work and all the time you put into your books and blog. You're a real inspiration and I look forward to reading more Jack posts for hopefully a long, long, long time to come! ^__^

  6. Congratulations on your 3 year blogoversary!!! How exciting! I can still remember finding you through the Tintinologist blog way back in Oct. or Nov. of 2011. We were both all excited about the Tintin movie... Speaking of, when in the universe is P. Jackson going to get back from Middle Earth so he can work on Tintin 2???
Anyway, I'm glad you're still going strong, and that you lasted past the first month!

  7. I would enjoy another 3 years with you! :D

  8. Happy Blogversary, Jack! I hope there are many more Blogversaries to come, too. :-D Your blog is fantastic! :-D

  9. Despite the fact that I have a wonderful idea, I think I may pass on the contest. I just haven't had time to put together a good video (or any video for that matter).

Congratulations on three years! I'll be five in July (now there's a scary thought!) and I've quite enjoyed your blog during the year and a half I've known about it.

And on another note, I finally watched the Avengers this week, so I understood that reference.

  10. Congrats!! That is so awesome! Confetti everywhere! :)
    Excited about the new cover!

  11. I meant to mention this in my other comment.
I finished Abolished Impractically last week. I really liked it. :) Your characters are so much fun. I think my favorite parts were when Isidore and Singur sunk into the Buckingham Palace kitchen and when Tony was arguing with Steed about stealing a table. Those made me laugh out loud. :)

Do you want to leave a comment? Come on, it will be fun. I want to get to know you and know why you stopped by my site. Don't worry if you don't know what to say, I will reply with something fun. Do you want to leave a comment? It doesn't have to be a long one.
